The MV Skansonia was the perfect nautical backdrop for this August Seattle wedding! These two chose the venue because they have many special memories of riding Washington State ferries together. They love the Seattle skyline, and the Lake Union views remind them of days kayaking with their pup and picnicking at Gas Works Park. They also appreciated all the historical details and story of the ferry. All of this made having a Skansonia wedding the perfect choice for them!
While it’s still very common, I’m seeing more and more couples choosing not to have a traditional wedding party. These two said that while they both highly value and maintain long-lasting and intimate friendships, choosing not to have a wedding party has been one of their favorite decisions. They didn’t want friends to feel obligated to show up in certain ways or for others to feel less valued. They also also didn’t want to separate friends and their partners for their celebration saying that they want them to best enjoy their love at our wedding too. I really love the thoughtfulness and intentionality in their decision.
Instead of a physical paper guest book, the couple had an audio guest book using a vintage phone where guests could leave messages of well-wishes. I LOVE this! To have the voices of the people they love the most recorded is such a special thing!
If you’ve spent any time perusing my website or Instagram, you know I’m a huge fan of dogs at weddings! And their dog Crosby is the absolute CUTEST! We made sure to add a little time to the photography schedule since taking photos with Crosby was a top priority.
