Sarah and Greg’s wedding at Rosario Resort on Orcas Island was an extra special one for me. I used to live on the island and work as a sea kayak guide out of Rosario, so coming back to photograph their big day brought back so many great memories! Greg and Sarah decided to get married on Orcas Island because it also held special significance to them. As Seattle natives, they’ve spent several years going to the San Juan Islands on getaways from the city. It was also the place where they got engaged, so Orcas Island has a very special place in their hearts.
When I talked to Greg and Sarah about what they envisioned for their wedding photography, they told me about how important and special it is to them that all of their favorite people will be gathered in one place. They wanted to remember people’s emotions and see photos of their guests having fun in a beautiful place. Their goal was to create an environment where their guests would have a great time and hit the dance floor. They definitely made that happen!
Right before the ceremony, Sarah’s dad took the couple out for a boat ride to enjoy the views of the island and the ocean. It was so fun to watch them dance and embrace (and tend dock lines and fenders!) out on the boat! After the ceremony, the couple joined their guests at cocktail hour down at the Beach House where everyone celebrated, played frisbee, and watched the sun go down. It was a pretty stellar evening!
Sarah and Greg, Thank you for inviting me to photograph your magical day in the San Juan Islands!
