Laura and Geraint’s elopement at Mount Rainier National Park was one for the books! Geraint is from London, and the two met while he was on a work trip to Seattle where Laura lives. Their long-distance relationship has meant lots of travel! They both love the outdoors and adventure, so an elopement at Mount Rainier National Park was a no-brainer for this Seattle Wedding Photographer!
I met Laura last year when I photographed her sister Katherine’s stunner of a wedding at Maplehurst Farms. Katherine’s wedding had about 200 guests; Laura’s had 10. While these two weddings were wildly different, they were equally beautiful. I really loved seeing all of the similarities in these sisters’ very different weddings. Laura and Katherine both wore the same shoes, the table featured some of the same decor and similar flowers, and both of their getting-ready venues were chosen, in part, for their large, inviting front porches.
When I asked Laura what she envisioned for her elopement photography, she said she wanted fun, authentic, romantic, and candid photos that capture the natural feeling of the day. As soon as she said this, I knew we’d get along great!
On the day of the elopement, Mount Rainier hid behind clouds, but that didn’t even matter! The beauty of the National Park’s forests and the Tatoosh Range stole the show. Laura, Geraint, and their immediate families stayed at Ashford Mansion before their ceremony in a tucked-away, wooded area of the park.
After the ceremony, I took the newlyweds up to Paradise where they laughed and played and embraced along the trails. I LOVED photographing Laura’s dress! She bought the skirt specifically for it’s flowiness, and she joyfully spun and tossed it into the air all day which made for some epic photos!
Geraint and Laura, I feel so incredibly honored that you invited me in your intimate wedding day. Thank you for going with the flow, bucking tradition, and trusting me to capture your moments. Have so much fun on your Costa Rica honeymoon!
From the couple: “Cameron was a dream to work with! My husband and I had a very unconventional mountain elopement and I can’t imagine having anyone else there to capture it. Not only is she so sweet and fun to work with on your actual wedding day, but the entire process was seamless. The communication was great and I felt so at ease knowing our day would be captured by her.
Not only did she photograph the wedding, but her PNW knowledge was so amazing to help up choose a ceremony spot in Mt. Rainier National Park. She had scoped out areas before hand for us to know what would/wouldn’t work. So above and beyond a typical “show up and take photos” photographer! I felt like she truly cared about our photos as if they were her own and it showed.
As far as taking them- I thought it may be awkward but it was the opposite. Cameron is so easy to shoot with. She gave fun prompts for us to do to make each other laugh naturally in the photos. The entire experience was so relaxed and perfect.
As for the pictures- wow! We were blown away. The colors were beautiful and the emotion of the day evident. I think Cameron’s strength is knowing just what to shoot at what moment to really capture the feeling in that exact moment. Someone laughing, dancing, crying…the true feels of the day are relived in each photo she took. We will cherish them forever!
Thank you again Cameron!”
