Woodland Park Zoo Wedding in Seattle, WA

August 2, 2018

Lisa and Ryan’s Woodland Park Zoo wedding in Seattle was so unique and memorable! Lisa absolutely loves the zoo and volunteers every week, so none of their friends and family were at all surprised when they chose it as their wedding venue. Not many people can say they hung out with gorillas, goats, porcupines, and hornbills at their wedding!

When I first met with Ryan and Lisa they told me they were looking for photography that is natural, candid, and would truly reflect who they are as a couple. They said they wanted joyful photos of them laughing and loving on each other. When I heard this, I knew we’d be a great match – everything they said about their hopes for their photography falls so perfectly in line with what I hope to capture.

Lisa and Ryan met in college and have been together for over 9 years. They truly grew into the people they are now, together. They define laid-back, caring, fun couples in love, and this is everything I hope for when I photograph couples. I hope for connection, laughter, joy, outdoor engagement sessions, and down-to-earth couples with big hearts. This is Lisa and Ryan to a T!

I love when I get a chance to get to know my couples more during engagement sessions, and my time hanging out with Ryan and Lisa before their wedding was so much fun! We were so lucky to have a beautiful, light-filled engagement session at Discovery Park in Seattle.

On their wedding day, when Lisa and Ryan saw each other for the first time, they exchanged letters that were their wedding vows instead of saying vows at the ceremony. It was such sweet, quiet, heartfelt moment. Then the ceremony was held in the Beech Grove which is tucked-away, natural, and surrounded by huge old-growth beech trees. You could hear the sounds of jaguars and lemurs in the distance during the ceremony! How awesome is that?!

At cocktail hour, guests were greeted by a knobbed hornbill and a North American porcupine. Lisa and Ryan also visited their favorite animals at the zoo – the gorillas. Since Lisa volunteers with them, the gorillas know and LOVE her. As soon as we walked up to the exhibit, the baby gorilla RAN up to her! Lisa showed the gorilla her bouquet, hair, and the sparkles on her dress. It was such an awesome moment, and I may have squealed with excitement a more than a few times!

It was such fun, celebratory, and lighthearted wedding at Woodland Park Zoo that really reflected Lisa and Ryan and their relationship.

Lisa and Ryan, you two are most kind, genuine people, and you are so perfect together. I feel so fortunate that I got to be there to document the beginning of your next big adventure. Thank you a million times over for being so caring, easy-going, and fun. Your joy is contagious, and I absolutely loved being surrounded by it on your wedding day. Cheers to many more decades of love and happiness!

From the couple: “This woman is amazing. Not only is Cameron one of the sweetest people I have ever met, but she has a gift for capturing incredible and special moments on camera.

When we were initially searching for photographers, Cameron was recommended by someone we reached out to who was unavailable. I looked through her website and realized that her photos put a smile on my face, and I didn’t even know the subjects! She responded to my inquiry incredibly fast. After chatting with her for 2 min I knew she would be our photographer.

Cameron’s communication was great, we were able to easily schedule our engagement shoot and plan for our day of wedding photography. She has efficient online forms you fill out that make everything super easy!

We got all of our photos quicker than expected for both the engagement shoot AND the wedding. Despite Cameron being so busy this summer, she was able to get us our wedding photos exactly one month after our wedding, providing sneak peeks a couple weeks in. I don’t know how she did it. The photos are incredible and I am so thankful that we chose Cameron! We will continue to use her as a photographer for each big milestone in our lives.”

  1. […] Lisa and Ryan chose Discovery Park for their engagement session, and I’m so glad they did! It’s one of my absolute favorite locations in Seattle for engagement photos. Lisa spent her childhood playing in the fields of Discovery Park, and now she and Ryan go on picnics there. I had so much fun getting to know these two during their session, and I can’t wait for their wedding at Woodland Park Zoo! […]
